History

Location
The longest inhabited island of Lošinj islands, with the same name fishing village, where today there are about 170 inhabitants. The first Croatian settlers came to the island at the end of the 18th century from Veliki Lošinj and since then the ILOVIK is being developed. The locals of Ilovika deal with vineyards and vineyards, which enables them to provide a large number of wells that supply this land with water, fishing, sheep and tourism.
The location of Ilovik is very beautiful, situated in a small bay, which is protected by the northern side of the uninhabited island of Sv. Peter on whom is the cemetery of the locals Ilovik. The coast is easily accessible from all sides, with many coves. The largest bay with a sandy beach is the Pariza on the south-eastern side of the island.
The oldest traces
The oldest traces of settlements originate from the Illyrian tribe of Liburna. The islands are rich in Roman finds. We come to the remains of the walls, the numismatic specimen, the sarcophagus, and there is a submarine archaeological site nearby.
The walls of the present cemetery are from the 11th century. At that time a Benedictine monastery was built, and probably before that was a Byzantine fortress.
Beaches
The most famous island beach is the beach of Pariza - a sandy beach located on the southern part of the island of Ilovika. It is about 20 minutes from Ilovik. walk.
